Jack is also the result of such a miracle. As soon as he was freed from the dark, cold soil above him, he began to search for those who had caused this miracle. At first he saw other pumpkins, but he quickly realized that they were nothing like him, other than the fact that they came out of the ground. There was nothing around except a decrepit, neglected house and an old truck abandoned in the middle of a field. He entered the house and walked around a bit. This was a neglected, dirty and very sad house. Very intense emotions hang in the air. Most of all, he felt longing. Whoever wanted him so badly, he was sure they weren’t here anymore. So he set out to continue looking for them.

Finally he came to my house. I found him a little tired, uncertain and rueful. He told me his story and said that he had never met anyone like him before, that he didn’t know where to look for them because he didn’t know the people he was looking for, and that he was undecided about what to do next. Of course, I recognized him immediately. But I couldn’t tell him who he was he or what had happened to the old farmer and his wife. I told him that I wanted to call him Jack if he allowed, and that he could stay here as long as he wanted. He accepted it. I also offered to crochet a friend for him so that he wouldn’t feel lonely. He said he would consider this offer.

While Jack thinks about my offer, let me tell you what you need to do if you want to crochet your own pumpkinhead.

Of course, you need to get the pattern first. I leave the link here for you.  I think it’s a very nice Halloween decoration. It’s also a great gift for children. I find this Pumpkinhead Zombie very cute.  As you can see, the result of the pattern was very beautiful. Still, I have some criticisms.

Materials I used:

Yarn:

  • Orange: YarnArt Jeans number 85
  • Green: YarnArt Jeans number 29
  • Denim: YarnArt Jeans number 68
  • Light Yellow: YarnArt Jeans number 67
  • Light Brown: YarnArt Jeans number 40
  • Tulip 2.20 mm hook

The difficulty level of the pattern is intermediate. In fact, even if the techniques are not very difficult, I think some experience may be required to shape the head appropriately. It’s not a very difficult pattern to follow. However, I think there could be more explanation in it. For example, while I am crocheting both the body and the head, I think it is necessary to fill it in a little earlier so that the shape looks better later. Although I like the toy this way, if you want to paint it with dry pastel paint as in the photos in the introduction of the pattern, there is no photo or video showing how to do it. I think it would be awesome. I’m not very experienced in this regard. Maybe it’s a very easy process, but I’d still like to see the explanations.

With the yarns I used and this crochet hook, the toy became 11 cm/ 4.3 inches. I am very happy with this size. If I used the same yarns and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, I would have gotten a slightly larger and softer toy. If you are going to use this pattern to give to a child, you might want to choose a 2.5 mm crochet hook.

I had no difficulty sewing the pieces together. I guess due to my hand pressure, the straps of Pumpkinhead’s jumpsuit were a little too long compared to the measurement in the pattern. I solved this little problem by reducing a few chains.

I really enjoyed crocheting Pumpkinhead. It’s a very cute pattern that you can finish in a short time. I hope you enjoy crocheting him as much as I do. If you make friends for Jack, please let us know in the comments. Maybe he’d like to meet them.

Jack hasn’t asked me to make a friend for him yet. We do our best here not to make him feel alone. It seems to have worked. He’s still confused and a little sad. He is a very special soul, a miracle that no one can replace. I’ve gotten very used to having him around and I’m a little worried about him getting on the road again. What do you think, If I want him more than Mr. and Mrs. Prodd, will he stay with me?
